Baldwin County Public Schools (BCPS) students, teachers and parents have collectively worn gold or yellow in support of local families that have endured childhood cancer.
The month of September is recognized as the National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Superintendent Eddie Tyler requested a day of recognition at all BCPS locations.
According to the National Cancer Institute website, "childhood cancer is rare, (but) it is the leading cause of disease-related death past infancy in children and adolescents."
The website also mentioned that September was officially named the National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in 2019.
More information on childhood cancer can be found on the Institute's website at www.cancer.gov.
