Baptist Hospital celebrates 1 year at new Brent Lane location

Posted

Baptist Hospital marked a significant milestone this week with the one-year anniversary of its new facility at Brent Lane and I-110.

The new emergency department opened its doors at 3 a.m. on Sept.23, 2023, welcoming its first patient as part of a historic transition. By noon that day, more than 1,100 Baptist team members and local emergency response teams had successfully relocated all patients from the E. and Moreno Street Legacy campus to the new location according to a news release.

Since the move, Baptist Hospital has provided care for thousands in the community, leading to a substantial expansion of its workforce. The organization has welcomed over 1,350 new team members in the past year, including more than 400 registered nurses. The new campus has also been active in community engagement, hosting numerous free seminars that attracted hundreds of attendees, alongside more than 45 recruitment events to bolster staffing.

Key achievements from Baptist Hospital's first year at the new campus include:

  • 728 new job positions added
  • 11,200 surgeries performed
  • 1 million phone calls handled by the hospital's switchboard and medical practices
  • 323,400 patient meals served

"It has been an incredible year, and we are honored that our community trusts us to care for them and their loved ones," president and CEO of Baptist Health Care Mark Faulkner said in the release. "We are proud of our new campus and the level of care it allows us to deliver. We are even more proud of our amazing team members across the organization who continuously provide the best possible care and experience for our patients. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of them and their support and dedication to our patients, each other and our community at large."

The new campus offers a comprehensive range of inpatient services and 24-hour emergency care. Outpatient services are housed in the Bear Family Foundation Health Center, while the Baptist Hospital Behavioral Health Unit on the west side provides inpatient care for children and adults. Additionally, the Henderson Health Center opened in August, featuring offices for Andrews Institute Rehabilitation, Baptist Wound Care and various independent physician practices.

Baptist Hospital's expansion also includes the recent opening of its second hybrid emergency department/urgent care center at Baptist Medical Park — Nine Mile in February 2024. This follows the successful launch of the first hybrid model at Baptist Medical Park — Navarre in 2020, which was the first of its kind in Florida. The hybrid model simplifies the patient experience by eliminating the need to decide the level of care required for an illness or injury, ensuring billing aligns with the level of service provided.

As the only locally led and governed not-for-profit health system in the area, Baptist Hospital is committed to innovation and growth, continuously seeking to set new standards in healthcare delivery to meet the evolving needs of the community.
