Foley High School announced a major shift in its athletic department Thursday, parting ways with head football coach Deric Scott after six seasons leading the Lions.

“The administration at Foley High School and Coach Deric Scott have decided to part ways mutually,” Baldwin County Public Schools said in a statement. “Coach Scott is looking into other opportunities while Foley High School is looking to go in a different direction. The Baldwin County Public Schools family appreciates all that Coach Scott has done for the students and athletes at Foley High School, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Scott finished his Foley tenure with a 28-32 overall record, including a 17-25 mark in Class 7A, Region 1. He led the Lions to one playoff appearance in 2022, a season that ended with a first-round loss to Dothan. That 2022 campaign was Scott’s lone winning season at Foley, highlighted by a 7-4 record and a region championship.

Before arriving at Foley, Scott spent five seasons as the head coach at Vigor, giving him 11 years of head-coaching experience.

Foley has not yet announced a timeline or process for its search for Scott’s replacement.
