FOLEY — Foley basketball protected its home floor with a clean sweep of Mobile Christian on Tuesday night, picking up wins in both the girls' and boys' contests.
The girls' matchup was a tug-of-war from start to finish, with neither side creating much separation until the final minutes. Through all the back-and-forth stretches, Foley leaned heavily on Amiyah Carvin, who delivered a tremendous and relentless performance. She scored 37 of the Lions' 53 points in the 53-45 victory, attacking the rim, shooting from deep and giving Foley an anchor to move to 5-1 on the season.
On the boys' side, Foley went back-and-forth with the Leopards early before settling into its rhythm in the second half. Once the Lions ramped up their pace, the combination of Curtis Sanders' shot-making from beyond the arc and Deandre Johnson's physical presence in the paint shifted control firmly in their favor. Sanders spaced the floor and knocked down timely three-pointers, while Johnson punished Mobile Christian inside, helping Foley pull away late for a convincing 56-20 finish to advance to 3-2 on the year.
Foley's boys will be back at home on Dec. 1 to take on Mattie T. Blount, while the girls return home a few days later on Dec. 4 when they host Orange Beach, looking to build on the momentum from Tuesday's sweep.
Across the county for boys basketball, Orange Beach took down Elberta 55-28, Daphne fell to Murphy 74-58, St. Michael came up short against Escambia County 52-40, Gulf Shores defeated Cottage Hill 58-41, Spanish Fort beat Alma Bryant 54-46 and Baldwin County lost 68-52 to St. Paul's.
