Fairhope Public Utilities announced that Water/Wastewater Superintendent Daryl Morefield has earned his Grade IV Water Operator Certification, the highest level issued by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
According to a news release, the certification recognizes Morefield’s expertise in managing the city’s most complex water treatment and distribution systems while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
"This significant accomplishment reflects Morefield’s expertise, dedication and leadership in ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable water services to the citizens of Fairhope," the news release said.
Per the release, a Grade IV license demonstrates advanced skills in water treatment processes, system management, chemical dosing, water quality standards and emergency response planning. Achieving it requires years of hands-on experience, completion of progressive certifications, and passing ADEM’s most challenging examination.
"We are extremely proud of Daryl and this achievement," said Mayor Sherry Sullivan, who also serves as Fairhope’s Utilities Superintendent. "This certification is not only a testament to his hard work and professionalism, but also a benefit to the entire Fairhope community. His leadership helps us maintain the quality and reliability our customers expect and deserve."
Morefield joined Fairhope Public Utilities in 2023 and has demonstrated a strong commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement. His new certification strengthens the utility’s ability to provide top-tier service to residents and businesses as the community continues to grow.
