Fairhope man arrested on child pornography charges following months-long investigation

A Fairhope man was arrested April 7 after a multi-agency investigation uncovered child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices, authorities said.

Daniel Vincent Moore, 40, is charged with four counts of possession of obscene matter and two counts of transmitting obscene material to a child by computer. The arrest followed a three-month investigation involving the Fairhope Police Department, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

According to police, the case began when suspicious internet activity was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip was then assigned to Investigator Jackson of the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Officers executed a residential search warrant on Shoshoney Circle in Fairhope, seizing multiple electronic devices. A forensic analysis of the devices revealed child sexual abuse material, often referred to as child pornography, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
