Erie Hall Meyer left legacy of philanthropic deeds

GULF SHORES — Erie Hall Meyer, a gracious Southern lady and resident of Gulf Shores for more than 50 years, never waivered in her love and support of her adopted hometown Gulf Shores.

Ms. Erie, as she was affectionately known, was the widow of George Charles Meyer, the visionary who dreamed Gulf Shores into reality. After his death, Ms. Erie continued the philanthropic work he had begun. She, too, believed in Gulf Shores and cared about its people.

After Ms. Erie’s passing in 2001, The Erie Hall Meyer Charitable Fund was formed and has continued to contribute in her honor and memory through many deserving endeavors.

The CSC has been the recipient of gifts from the EHMCF for the food pantry, program grants, aid during the economic downturn, and the oil spill.

Recently the EHMCF added a fourth building to the Christian Service Center complex. This building now provides space for excess medical equipment and the Center’s newest initiative, the adult bicycle program.

Through this charitable fund, Ms. Erie’s legacy of supporting and nurturing the community she loved so much continues. The Christian Service Center acknowledges with great love and appreciation the commitment and gifts to the Center from the Erie Hall Meyer Charitable Fund in memory of a great lady.
