FAIRHOPE — Assistant fire Chief James Bauer said a house fire at 100 Sandy Shoal Loop in Rock Creek was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene in the early morning of July 12.
Four Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department trucks were sent to the scene shortly after the 1:20 a.m. call-in. The Daphne Fire Department also sent two trucks.
Bauer said all they could do when they got there was “surround and drown,” due to the depth of the blaze at the two-story residence. No one was home; the owners were out of state on a vacation, he said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in less than an hour, he said, but they remained on the scene for several hours to monitor “hot spots.”
A representative from the State Fire Marshall’s office is supervising an investigation into the cause of the fire.
