MIAMI –According to the National Hurricane Center, now former-tropical storm Dorian has degenerated into an open tropical wave, thanks to the dry air and wind shear the system has faced in the past couple of days. Forecasters say persistent wind shear and more dry air in the atmosphere make regeneration of the storm unlikely.
The NHC expects the remnants of Dorian to be near the southeastern Bahamas on today or Tuesday, and as of now, forecasters expect what’s left of the rain and clouds to pass south of Florida on Wednesday or Thursday.
Some forecast models show potential for the wave to re-intensify with more favorable conditions over warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico, though any upgrade to the current status could be days ahead.
