District declines to comment on social media chatter about Daphne volleyball coach

Casey Craig placed on leave for alleged behavior

Daphne High School volleyball coach Casey Craig has drawn widespread scrutiny online as parents and community members point to a history of complaints that were never formally addressed by the school district.

The district declined to comment on the renewed accusations circulating online about Craig.

“Casey Craig has been put on administrative leave as of this morning. Due to this being a personnel matter, we cannot comment any further,” Superintendent Eddie Tyler said.

Craig was placed on administrative leave last Monday after a video surfaced on social media showing her appearing to make an obscene gesture toward Bayside Academy’s crowd during a varsity match Thursday, Sept. 25. She is also accused of making explicit remarks toward fans during the game.

Daphne is ranked among the top 20 volleyball teams in Alabama and considered one of the best in Class 6A. The Trojans will move forward toward the playoffs under interim head coach Megan Hart — assisted by coaches Savannah Cooper and Deanna Richards.
