After a 9-3 finish to the season, Daphne High School head football coach Kenny King has been named the 2025 Baldwin County Board of Education Varsity Football Coach of the Year.

During his tenure as the head coach of the Trojans, King has posted a 68-42 record and has reached the playoffs eight times. Daphne football finished fourth in 7A Region 1 this past season and fell to Auburn in the second round of the postseason.

King is a Daphne alum and former University of Alabama football standout from 2000-02 before being selected in the 5th round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals. There he received All-SEC honors in 2001 and 2002; King also won the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete award in 2023.

He was previously working double duty as Daphne High’s athletic director, recently named Southeast Region Athletic Director of the Year by Positive Athlete. The Eastern Shore native has also remained active in the community through Kenny King Charities, which supports local families through scholarships, an annual Christmas Shop-a-Thon and other outreach initiatives.
