GULF SHORES, Ala. – A daily vote from your email account could help Gulf Shores High School's drivers education program win some serious cash for new classroom aids.
State Farm Insurance's "Celebrate My Drive" campaign during National Teen Safe Driving Week will include a place to vote for your school to help receive the funding.
Drivers Ed teacher Marcus Early explains how the community can help. The website to vote at is www.celebratemydrive.com.
"Real simple," Early told the Gulf Shores Council on Monday. "Once a day every day from every email account you have, go and vote for Gulf Shores High School.
"The top five high schools that receive the most votes will get $100,000. If we receive $100,000 we can buy some new simulators. The next 45 schools are going to receive $25,000. It takes about 10 seconds a day."
Also included in the top prize is a free concert by singer Kelly Clarkson.
Early began at the Shrimp Festival where Chairman Matt Mogan and Chamber President Ed Rodriguez helped the school set up a booth touting the campaign. Early has also spoke to several groups on Pleasure Island including the Orange Beach City Council on Tuesday.
"National Teen Safe Driving Week is Oct. 18-26," Early said. "It's a national campaign for all the schools in the United States and Canada. They are going to be entered into a 'Celebrate my Drive competition.' We've gone to Kiwanis and several other organizations. we've got a lot of people helping us.
"We're going to have it on our school digital board, we have it on our email addresses, we have it on our 'Celebrate My Drive' petition and we also have it on our school Facebook page. We're trying to get it out there to everyone. If you can share it with your friends and neighbors we'd really appreciate it."

Director of Recreation and Cultural Affairs Grant Brown said the city will help with the effort to get some grant money as well.
"We're going to help with the campaign going through our social media and our website and start pushing this out there," Brown said.
The City Council passed a proclamation recognizing National Teen Safe Driving Week and presented it to Early, a group of his students and local State Farm Agent Frances Holk-Jones.
Early praised Holk-Jones work with Gulf Shores High School.
"Frances does an amazing job for Gulf Shores High School," Early said. "We do so many things for our school and community and it wouldn't happen without Frances. Anytime I call Frances she's always willing to help. She comes and speaks to my classes, she funds a lot of things we have and we're real thankful for Frances for what she does."
