ROBERTSDALE, Ala. – What’s it going to take to get the Baldwin County Tigers back on the winning track? Head coach Bobby Moore says “commitment.”
Moore’s Tigers have only won two games in his two seasons at the school, but he has seen some improvement since taking over the program in 2011.
“The big thing is commitment,” Moore said. “We need commitment from guys that understand that the game should be played a bigger level than we’ve been playing. I think we are getting closer every day. I thought we got competitive and had a chance to win a few games last year. Now, we’ve got to get over just being competitive and win some of those games this year.”
One key player for the Tigers this season is senior Jaquan Finch, who Moore says “has a lot of tools.” The 6-2, 225-pound Finch has played running back, tight end, H-back and safety at BCHS and has received interest from Auburn, Chattanooga, South Alabama, Troy and Louisiana-Monroe.
“We lost a couple games last year that we should have won,” Finch said at media day in Robertsdale on Monday. “Conditioning is the key this year.”
Andre Davis gets the nod at quarterback this season after playing corner in 2012.
“Andre throws a great deep ball,” Moore said. “He is very quick and can beat you with his feet.”
“Andre is a good playmaker,” senior left tackle lineman Eddie Jeselink said. “He is able to make some great plays.”
Jeselink is part of an offensive line that includes Brett Moore, Lebron Williams, Austin Garner and Logan Ferrell.
The Tigers will play in a pre-season jamboree at Gulf Breeze (Fla.) and open the season Aug. 30 at home against Theodore.
