Bayshore paces Baldwin County sailors at Sugar Bowl Great Oaks Regatta

Posted

On Nov. 22-23, four Bayshore Christian sailors out paced three other Baldwin County programs at the 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Great Oaks Invitational Regatta in New Orleans.

The annual regatta offers national-level competition for high school teams that haven't qualified for major championships in recent years — designed to help new and smaller programs build experience. It's part of the broader Sugar Bowl Regatta, a long-running series of races held around New Year's. This year's regatta featured 28 of the top programs from across the country.

Bayshore's group battled reported difficult, shifting wind conditions throughout the weekend and delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd overall in the silver bracket.

Three local teams were in action across both brackets. In the silver bracket, St. Michael Catholic placed 9th and Fairhope finished 14th. Bayshore also competed in the red bracket, earning 8th place, while Fairhope recorded a 14th-place finish there as well.
