The Barnwell Community Day – Butts, Spuds & Brews Festival will bring a full day of food, drinks, live music and family fun to the Barnwell Community Center on Nov. 15, with a new addition sure to get people moving — the first-ever Spud Run.
Hosted by the Barnwell Community Organization, the free festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 13319 County Road 3 in Fairhope. The annual event celebrates a local tradition that dates back to the 1800s, when Barnwell residents first began gathering for food and fellowship.
This year's lineup includes barbecue, beer and wine tastings, local vendors, tractor displays and kids' activities. There will also be live music and a performance by the Zachary Thomas Diedrich Band. Organizers said the event is all about celebrating the area's community spirit.
"Your support helps us preserve and celebrate our amazing Barnwell community," the organization said.
The biggest new feature this year is the inaugural Spud Run, offering participants two options — the 5K Spud Run and the 1-Mile Couch Potato Fun Run. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Fun Run at 9 a.m. Both races will start and finish at the Barnwell Community Center.
Registration for the Spud Run is available online at https://runsignup.com/Race/AL/Fairhope
BarnwellCommunitySpudRun. Entry for the Fun Run is free, with a $20 option for participants who want an event T-shirt. The 5K entry is $30 and includes a shirt.
The Barnwell Community Organization invites everyone to "come hungry, bring your friends and family, and spend the day."
