Baldwin County volleyball teams are set to begin postseason play this week as three area tournaments get underway across the county while other teams hit the road to compete.
In Class 7A Area 3, Fairhope will host a competitive bracket featuring Fairhope, Foley, Bayside and Robertsdale. The Pirates will take on the Lions in the first round while the Admirals match up with the Golden Bears.
In Class 6A Area 2, the No. 2 team in the state and defending champions Spanish Fort hosts Gulf Shores and Baldwin County. The Toros get a first round bye and will take on the winner of the Dolphins vs. the Tigers.
Orange Beach rounds out the county host sites and headlines the 4A Area 1 tournament, joined by St. Michael and Satsuma. The Makos will also get a first round bye while the Cardinals and the Gators go head-to-head.
Daphne travels to McGill-Toolen for the 7A Area 2 tournament, where the Trojans will play Davidson for a chance to play the host Yellow Jackets, one of the state's perennial powers.
The 5A Area 1 bracket at UMS-Wright includes Elberta, Williamson, B.C. Rain and the host Bulldogs, while Bayshore Christian travels to Washington County for the 2A Area 1 tournament alongside Clarke County.
Area champions and runners-up will move on to the South Super Regional, set for Oct. 23-25 in Montgomery, where teams will compete for spots in the state tournament in Birmingham.
