The Baldwin County Highway Department will begin Phase II of improvements at the CR 65 and CR 12 intersection on Dec. 1, according to a news release.
The work will add new left-turn lanes on CR 12 and replace the temporary traffic signal with a storm-resilient mast-arm system, per the release.
Phase II follows the earlier completion of turn-lane additions on CR 65 and installation of the temporary signal. Together, the two phases represent the full scope of planned upgrades at the intersection.
“We’re pleased to begin the final phase of this much-needed project for our residents,” District 4 County Commissioner Charles “Skip” Gruber said in the release. “As this work progresses, we are also looking ahead to improvements at CR 65 and Michigan and at CR 12 and Hickory Street, reflecting the Commission’s continued commitment to enhancing intersection capacity and safety throughout Baldwin County.”
Construction on this phase is expected to be complete by Spring 2026. According to the Baldwin County Commission, updates on the work will be shared with the public as the project advances.
