Posted

With standings beginning to take shape and area play quickly approaching, Baldwin County baseball and softball teams continued to hit the diamond at full speed in another week full of action.

From dominant win streaks to multiple no-hitters and a handful of long balls, several teams and players across the county begin to separate themselves from others as we take a look at the top teams and standout performances from the last seven days.

TOP TEAMS

Orange Beach softball moved to a perfect 7-0 start and continued to look every bit the part of a title contender once again as the Makos chase a sixth straight state championship. Orange Beach run-ruled Fairhope and Spanish Fort during the week before sweeping the St. James Tournament in Montgomery over the weekend.

Daphne softball also continued its strong start, advancing to 11-2 following a successful showing at the Hewitt-Trussville tournament over the weekend. Orange Beach is now the only undefeated program left in the county with the Trojans taking their first two losses.

Baldwin County softball secured two county wins by defeating Foley and Robertsdale. The Lady Tigers also tested Daphne in a competitive 10-7 loss. Baldwin County baseball extended its win streak to seven games earlier in the week with wins over Daphne and Elberta before dropping two games over the weekend.

Fairhope baseball went 2-0 last week with solid wins over UMS-Wright and St. Michael, which currently owns the county's top record.

Spanish Fort baseball began to find its rhythm after a 1-4 start, beating Orange Beach 2-0 early in the week before picking up another win over Pensacola Catholic during weekend play.

Foley baseball pushed its record to 6-3 and into the upper tier of the county standings after three straight wins over the weekend. The Lions run-ruled Flomaton before taking down St. Luke's twice on the road.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES

Teagan Revette powered Orange Beach softball at the plate with a huge week that included a two-home-run performance in a 12-1 win over Spanish Fort. The Mississippi State commit finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs in that game and went 12-for-21 overall with two doubles, one triple, six RBIs and the pair of homers during a 6-0 week for the Makos. Revette has now surpassed 60 career home runs and ranks among the top 10 in AHSAA history in that category.

Makos pitcher MK McMullan logged 18 innings in the circle with just one run allowed, seven walks and 35 strikeouts. She threw a complete-game shutout against Prattville Christian and later entered in relief against St. James to close out the game with nine strikeouts.

Foley softball pitcher Bailee Egbert tossed a no-hitter in the Lions' 14-0 win over Theodore, striking out four with one walk issued across four hitless innings. On the baseball diamond, Foley's William Quarles went 6-for-8 during the Lions' three-game win streak with a home run, a double and five RBIs. In Foley's 16-6 win over Flomaton, Brady Nichols also pitched a complete game with two earned runs allowed and 10 strikeouts.
