Baldwin County athletes dominate podiums at Saraland Invitational track and field meet

With blazing sprint times, dominant throws and distance wins highlighting the weekend, Baldwin County athletes captured multiple event titles and filled podium spots across the boys and girls competitions at the Saraland Invitational track and field meet.

Let’s take a look at some of the gold winners and top placers.

BOYS WINNERS & TOP PLACERS

On the boys side, Carter Davis of Gulf Shores Dolphins delivered one of the fastest performances of the meet, blazing to gold in the 100-meter dash with a 10.72 time before doubling up with another first-place finish in the 200. Teammate Harrison Wright added a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash, while the Dolphins’ speed also showed in the 4x100 relay with a fifth-place finish.

Rashaud Robertson of Foley Lions claimed the 400-meter dash title and added a third-place finish in the 200. In the field events, Rashad Jones of Foley led county pole vaulters with a 13-foot jump for fourth place. 

Versatility highlighted the performance of Latron Valrie from Daphne Trojans, who finished third in the 400, fifth in the 200 and 10th in the 100.

Distance runners from Baldwin County also made their mark. Ian Brown of Fairhope Pirates placed third in the 1,600-meter run before capturing gold in the 3,200, while Lincoln Strickland finished fourth in the 1,600.

The discus featured strong county representation with four Baldwin County athletes finishing in the top six. Billy Neill of Bayside Admirals won the event, while Jones finished third. Foley’s Jones later added a gold medal in the javelin with Matthew Hill of Daphne taking runner-up.

Another Bayside athlete, Owen Reineck, captured the shot put title. Gulf Shores’ Daniel Foster finished second as well, while Reineck’s teammate Neill added a fourth-place finish.

GIRLS WINNERS & TOP PLACERS

On the girls side, Aleecia Harris from the Daphne Trojans recorded runner-up finishes in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes while Jayda Kinsey of Foley placed fourth in the 200.

Distance standout Emily Friedel of St. Michael was one of four Baldwin County girls to win gold, capturing the 1,600-meter run while also finishing third in the 3,200. Her teammate Addison Silvernail finished third in the pole vault. 

Fairhope’s girls led the way overall, producing several top finishes across relays and field events. The Pirates finished fourth in the 4x100 relay, fifth in the 4x400 and runner-up in the 4x800.

In the hurdles, Bayside’s Stella Parks posted the top county finish with fifth place in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events.

Individually, Fairhope’s Zoe Suntych finished fourth in the triple jump. Her teammate Nylah Loukides captured the shot put title and added a fifth-place discus finish, and fellow Pirates Hannah Kaczor won the discus while Caroline Ledford took gold in the pole vault.
