Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen has released a new tutorial video, “Business Basics: Structures and Business Filings,” aimed at guiding small business owners through the state’s business formation and filing processes.
According to a news release, the video provides step-by-step instructions for using the Business Services functions on the Secretary of State’s website, along with explanations of Alabama laws and regulations related to starting and maintaining a business.
“I would encourage all Alabama small business owners or those with an interest in starting a business in Alabama to access this video,” Allen said in the release. “It is always the goal of myself and my Office to ensure that Alabamians have the resources and guidance they need to be successful in their business endeavors.”
Allen has a long record of supporting small businesses, from reducing filing fees in the Secretary of State’s Office to advocating for federal regulatory changes. In 2024, his office successfully pushed legislation that removed a costly filing requirement, saving Alabama businesses roughly $690,000 over three years.
“My track record is very clear — I will always support Alabama’s hardworking men and women as they pursue the American dream,” Allen said. “I have publicly called for the repeal of unnecessary and burdensome filings in federal law.”
The tutorial video is available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RZpnJEMBv0. For questions about business filings, the Business Services Division of the Alabama Secretary of State can be reached at (334) 242-5324 or business.services@sos.alabama.gov.
