FAIRHOPE — Alabama Arise has worked for more than 30 years to build a state where the people are engaged in the policymaking process and where all public officials are responsive to the public. To help advance those efforts, Alabama Arise is co-hosting a community conversation in Fairhope to lift up residents' concerns and hopes for the 2023 legislative session.
Alabama Arise and the League of Women Voters of Baldwin County will co-sponsor a community meeting in Fairhope on Thursday, March 2, at 6 p.m. The event will be held in Room 11 of the University of South Alabama's Baldwin County Classroom Complex. Legislators representing Baldwin County and nearby areas have been invited to attend and participate.
Improving health coverage, untaxing groceries and protecting voting rights will be among the many issues facing lawmakers when the Alabama Legislature's regular session begins March 7. The Fairhope event will present an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and ideas on these challenges and others affecting their communities.
Alabama Arise is a statewide, member-led nonprofit organization advancing public policies to improve the lives of Alabamians who are marginalized by poverty. Arise's membership includes faith-based, community, nonprofit and civic groups, grassroots leaders and individuals from across Alabama.
