Sub-state competition punched several local golfers' tickets to next week's AHSAA state championships, highlighted by two team titles and a handful of individual qualifiers from across Baldwin County.
Spanish Fort delivered one of the area's top performances, capturing the 6A girls' sub-state championship with a team score of 218. Sara Carter Hare paced the Toros with a low-medalist round of 68, while Ainsley Madden carded a 74 and Bailee Reaper added a 76.
On the boys' side, Bayside Academy claimed the 5A sub-state title with a team score of 304 to advance to state competition. Ethan Kolb and Campbell Harges each shot 74 to lead the Admirals, while Henry Cunningham posted a 76. Jake Jacobs finished with an 80 and William Buster added an 81.
Several golfers also advanced as individuals. Bayshore Christian's Michael Heaton qualified in 1A-2A after shooting a 70, while Elberta's Chris Jones earned a 5A state berth with a 77 and Orange Beach's Corinne Laferrera
punched her ticket in 4A with a round of 77.
The state tournaments are scheduled for May 11-12 at sites in Anniston, Dothan and Mobile.
