5 Gulf Coast events to keep your weekend fun, June 7-9

Posted

It is never too early to plan your weekend fun. That is one of the reasons Gulf Coast Media decided to move the What's Happening section to the Wednesday paper, after reader feedback, so you have more time to plan for the weekend.

As we roll into June, the festivals slow down but there's always something going on along the Gulf Coast. This weekend, we have narrowed the list down to five. The anglers may already know, but it is once again time for the annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo. In true Flora-Bama fashion, it is a fishing tournament and beach party. If you were hoping to get a little use out of your western wear, put on your finest boots and hats and head to the Boots & Bandanas Drawdown. The event raises money for the Central Baldwin Chamber's initiative and is a boot scooting' good time. Some other highlights of this week's list to check out are the new Beach Break series at Gulf State Park, the Animal Ambassador Cruise, and the Joe Jefferson Players in Mobile have a new show that will be fun for the whole family.

If our list missed the mark for you, visit our event calendar at www.GulfCoastMedia.com for more events happening this weekend or beyond. Search for events by distance from your home city or vacation spot.

Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo
  • What: Let the fishing begin. The annual Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo is one of many fishing tournaments that happen around the area. The three-day Captain's Choice tournament has anglers competing for first, second and third place in 30 categories including red snapper. An event at the Flora-Bama would not be complete without a little beach party and the fishing rodeo is no different. Visitors and anglers will enjoy a three-day beach party with daily fish weigh-ins, live music, food and more. For more information or to register, visit www.florabama.com.
  • When: June 7 at midnight to June 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Flora-Bama Yacht Club, 17350 Perdido Key Drive, Perdido Key, Florida
Central Baldwin Chamber's Boots & Bandanas Drawdown
  • What: Dust off your cowboy boots and your finest cowboy hat and get ready for a fun time. The annual Boots & Bandanas Drawdown is a night full of food, games, dancing and more.
