DAPHNE, Ala. – The Admirals kept their Class 3A playoff hat in the ring Friday with a 55-3 Region 1 homecoming win over neighboring rival St. Michael Catholic. Bayside Academy scored early on a 13-yard run by Andrew Smith who also caught Jacob Cunningham passes for scores of 19-yards and 36 yards.
The Cardinals got on the board with a 23-yard field goal by Will Edmiston in the first quarter. Smith had a 36-yard rushing TD called back, but Nate Cook scored on the next play with a 46-yard sweep. Thomas Cicco closed the first half with 1-yard touchdown to cap a 51-yard drive.
Cicco, Christopher Stuart and Clarke Milteer each added rushing touchdowns in the second half while Mac Douglas kicked seven extra points and had an interception for Bayside.
The Admirals have the next week off before hosting 5A Satsuma to close out the regular season on Nov. 2. The outcome of the T.R. Miller vs. Flomaton game next week could determine Bayside’s playoff future. The Cardinals travel to Mobile Christian on Oct. 26 and close their first varsity season at Elberta, Nov. 2.
