It’s springtime and the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida,105 N. “S” St. in Pensacola, is inviting everyone to its Annual Baby Shower and Open House on April 28, from noon to 3:30 p.m. It’s their 25th year and they are very proud to be part of the community.

Open seven days a week as a wildlife hospital for injured and orphaned wildlife, the facility relies mainly on donations to support the care of these wonderful animals in need of a second chance.

Enjoy shopping for wildlife gifts and T-shirts, buy native plants and trees at the plant booth, feed the pelicans, have the children learn about native animals at two puppet shows.

Hot dogs, chips, sodas and bake sale items are available for purchase, so plan to eat there.

Bring your camera, bring your kids and bring your friends. You’ll see pelicans, foxes, eagles, owls, bobcats, opossums, turtles, skunks, deer and much more.

Don’t forget that if you want to bring baby shower gifts, the sanctuary can use any of the following items: paper towels, tissues, liquid laundry soap, bleach, first-class stamps, peanut butter, suet cakes, canned or frozen peas and corn, fresh or frozen small minnows, raw peanuts in shell, 33-gallon trash bags, frozen berries, grapes, pecans and sweet potatoes.

The sanctuary was founded in 1982, and has been growing since then.
