What remains of the Burris Farm Market in Loxley will soon be sold to the highest bidders.

The family-owned Burris Farm Market, which has run for more than forty years, is holding an auction on Oct 15 before closing its doors for good.

The market, located along Highway 59, has served residents of Loxley and Baldwin County for many years, but owner Greg Burris announced back in February that the market will be closing for good this year.

“The Burris Family has been farming and running our business here since 1986,” the market said in a statement released on social media. “It has been a pleasure to service the local community for all these years. But it is time to move on. So, we are not opening up this year. We have enjoyed farming and providing fresh local fruits and vegetables for all these years. Also need to thank the customers that have shopped and supported us all these years.”

Now, everything inside the market’s complex, including shelves, coolers, signs, and even the doors and parts of the roof, will be up for sale at an auction planned for Tuesday morning.

The auction will take place both in person and online on Oct 15, at 8 a.m. A walkthrough previewing what will be up for sale will take place the day before, on Oct 14, lasting from 1-4 p.m. or through appointment.

Following the auction, the market will be demolished. However, the lot won’t stay empty for too long. There are plans already in place for Wawa to purchase half of the five-acre property for a new convenience store that will be built in its place.
