GULF SHORES — The Salty Palm is now part of Beach Bum Outdoors as part of a merging of storefronts in Gulf Shores.
The boutique clothing and gift store with a coastal theme opened in Orange Beach, next to the Angry Crab Shack in The Shoppes at Palm Pointe, in 2021. Co-owners Kelly and Clay Blackwell closed that store to move to 3041 W. 1st Ave., just off Gulf Shores Parkway. Kelly Blackwell said they are still the same boutique shop that their customers have come to know and love.
With the move, which became official with them opening Oct. 23, The Salty Palm provides a spot for individuals, couples or families to shop for more than one type of outing at the same time. Both stores are connected through an interior doorway, allowing patrons to seamlessly flow between the two to find women's, men's and children's clothing, beach and party accessories, decorating accents and coastal gifts as well as fishing and outdoor needs.
"For us, the best part is how naturally we kind of fit together. We share the same values," Blackwell said. "It's just incredible customer service, high-quality products and a fine shopping experience for everybody that walks in the door — and just being in a different area. I'm excited to see who comes in."
Blackwell said she and Beach Bum Outdoors co-owner Buddy Cummings began talks of a merger in September, wanting to create a unique experience. Things would come into fruition within a month, and now the move allows them to offer the best of two worlds to patrons.
"We're excited about our next chapter being in Gulf Shores and joining with Beach Bum," Blackwell said, "and if you're local and haven't checked us out yet, come by."
