Daphne Police Department reported an investigation of a shooting that occurred around 1 a.m. on Friday, May 24, after two groups of teenagers were reportedly involved in a confrontation that left a 16-year-old shot in the arm.
The wounded teen was taken privately to Thomas Hospital following an early-morning meeting at the Montclair Pool, which sparked over social media banter and ultimately led to a 17-year-old being charged with first-degree assault with a firearm. Not only has the shooting suspect been arrested, but also two other juveniles were taken in on drug offenses, DPD stated.
"There have been multiple incidents where teenagers meet at the pools, mostly Montclair, to fight, gather in numbers, vandalize the pool furniture, etc.," Lake Forest Board of Directors wrote in a press release to homeowners. "These acts are unacceptable and will be fully dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. The POA Members pay for these amenities, so we will do our best to ensure everyone's safety. Your safety is our highest priority."
The Lake Forest community has raised its concerns with law enforcement, increasing patrols in the neighborhood, and asks the public if they see something, say something by contacting Daphne police.
