Spider-Man, Batman, Superman and, for the first time, Wonder Woman traded city skylines for hospital walls earlier this week as they rappelled down the side of Children’s of Alabama to surprise young patients watching from their windows.
The masked visitors weren’t just showing off their superpowers. They were window washers from Sunlight Building Services, LLC, contracted by Hoar Construction, LLC, who volunteered their time to bring joy and laughter to patients and families.
Their dramatic entrance marked the start of Children’s of Alabama’s annual Superhero Month, a hospital-wide celebration recognizing “heroes of all sizes.” This year’s theme, “Heroes Heal Here,” honors the courage, strength and resilience of patients, their families and hospital staff.
Throughout October, Children’s will host a series of superhero-themed activities, including a glow party and other events designed to lift spirits and celebrate the power of hope and healing.
Hospital officials expressed gratitude to Sunlight Building Services and Hoar Construction for making the day possible — and for helping turn an ordinary Tuesday into a super one for kids facing extraordinary challenges.
