The Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) Dance Department presented its Senior Thesis Projects in Performance on May 5 and 6 at the ASFA Theater in Birmingham.
Davey Wofford was chosen to perform in “Cyberpunk,” which was choreographed by Audrey Richter. He also performed “Static Cling,” that was choreographed by Melissa Word.
Wofford is 16 years old, and is attending the 11th grade in residence on a dance scholarship. ASFA is nationally recognized for its exceptional program in visual and performing arts for grades 7-12.
ASFA dance curriculum consists of rigorous daily classes with a heavy classical emphasis, plus courses in music appreciation, class piano, dance history and exposure to related modern and jazz styles.
Wofford has been taking dance lessons since he was 4 years old under the tutelage of his aunt, Joni Wofford, the owner and artistic director of Joni’s School of Dance in Robertsdale.
Wofford has dazzled audiences for years with his award-winning lyrical and theatre dance performances. Friends and family went to Birmingham to watch him dance.
