SPANISH FORT, Ala. — The Spanish Fort National All-Stars finished third in the Dixie Youth Baseball AA (Coach-Pitch) Sub-District Tournament held June 18-21 in Spanish Fort.
Mobile Municipal National won the tournament, while Saraland American finished runner-up.
Spanish Fort opened up tournament play with a 5-4 victory over Central Baldwin National on June 18. Spanish Fort fell behind 4-0 before rallying late to tie the score at 4-4. In the bottom of the eighth, Lucas Lambert drove in Nickoles Passarelli with a base hit to right field for the winning run. Caleb Hayles also drove in two runs for Spanish Fort.
On June 19, Spanish Fort fell to Saraland American 17-1, with Hayles driving in the lone run.
On June 21, Spanish Fort battled back from 12-3 deficit to make it 12-10, before eventually falling 15-11 to Mobile Municipal National in the tournament finale.
Jaden Monk and Tre Holley each drove in three runs in the contest, while Lucas Alday added a solo home run.
Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch (AA) Division is for area youth ages 8 and under. The Spanish Fort National All-Star team was selected from the five teams that participated in the Spanish Fort Sports Association’s 2010 National League season that concluded May 22.
