Say 'I do' to Brides Against Breast Cancer

Brides Against Breast Cancer, bridesabc.org, is an organization serving a very “pink” purpose – their bridal gown sales fund programs and services that are free to cancer patients and their families.

Tour of Gowns fundraiser

Through its Nationwide Tour of Gowns bridal shows, Brides Against Breast Cancer plans to unveil more than 100 shows in 2013. In cities nationwide, with an average offering of nearly 1,000 new or gently worn bridal dresses, brides-to-be will find their dream gown at a greatly reduced cost.

“Wedding gown sales are an important fundraising program for Brides Against Breast Cancer. Our organization makes it possible for future brides around the country to purchase wedding gowns at dramatic savings, and give back,” Amy Paulishak, senior vice president of Brides Against Breast Cancer, said. “Most gown prices range from $75 to $799, including beautiful new name brand and designer gowns valued up to $3,000. We also offer layaway.”

The 2013 dates for the Nationwide Tour of Gowns coming to a city near you are:

Mobile Sept. 27-28 The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel and Spa

Meridian, Miss. Oct. 12 Northeast Conference Center

The Cause

According to Paulishak, “One in every four women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. These women may have taken that walk down the aisle, or may never have the chance. Cancer does not discriminate. It does not care if your dress fits, if your hair is in place or if you are smiling enough.”

“Brides Against Breast Cancer inspires to provide education, information and outreach to people impacted by cancer all over the country,” she revealed. “Through our Nationwide Tour of Gowns events in over 100 cities nationwide, we will raise $2 million this year to support programs and services that educate and assist those during a critical time in their lives.”

Here’s how you can help:

If you have already said “I do,” donate your gown for a tax deduction. Dresses can be brought directly to the show.

Volunteer at one of our gown shows or make a donation.

“Brides Against Breast Cancer was founded over 15 years ago by a group of women dealing with their breast cancer diagnosis,” Paulishak explained. “They wanted to engage women of all ages into action by inviting women who have already said 'I Do' to donate their gowns for a tax donation which brides-to-be can then purchase at a discount and enjoy on their special day. Today, females and males of all ages can also volunteer for BABC and pay in forward in a meaningful way to help raise awareness and funds for people impacted by cancer in their community.”
