The Pleasure Island Ministerial Association is inviting the South Baldwin community to join "Hope for the Season: An Ecumenical Advent Series," a three-part series of dinners and discussions designed to bring local Christians together during Advent.
The events will be held on three consecutive Thursdays — Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 — at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 308 E 22nd Avenue. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by the discussion at 6:30 p.m., per a news release.
The series will feature The Rev. Dr. Joy Blaylock, a respected leader in interfaith dialogue across Methodist, Jesuit, Lutheran and Episcopalian traditions. Blaylock will lead sessions on Dec. 4, exploring "The Incarnation," and Dec. 18, focusing on "Christian Hope and Expectation." A panel of local clergy will lead the Dec. 11 session, "Living Faith, Present and Future."
"This series is a beautiful opportunity for the Christian community on Pleasure Island to come together during the Advent season," Pastor Larry Wood said in the release. "We encourage everyone to join us for a complimentary meal and meaningful conversation."
Dinner is free each evening, provided by PIMA partner churches. Attendees are asked to RSVP online to help with planning.
