Oct. 11 shooting incident under investigation in Foley

Posted

The Foley Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on the afternoon of October 11.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of East Verbena Avenue.

Upon arrival, police discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency responders transported the individual to a local hospital for treatment of his injury.

As officers investigated the scene, one officer was diverted to a nearby area after spotting a male suspect armed with a gun. The suspect fled on foot, prompting a search by Foley Police, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and Gulf Shores Police in the 500 block of South Pecan. However, the search did not yield the suspect's location.

Authorities believe the shooting was not random and that the victim and the shooter are acquainted.

“We do believe both situations are related,” the Foley Police Department said in a media release.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Foley Police Department at (251) 943-4431 or submit a tip through the department's app.
