The North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation recently bestowed its Liz Duryea Service Award upon Dorothy White, in recognition of her outstanding 42-year career at the then-Bay Minette Infirmary.

The presentation took place during the annual NBI Foundation Gala, commemorating the enduring legacy of Liz Duryea and her profound contributions to healthcare in North Baldwin.

The Liz Duryea Service Award is reserved for individuals who exemplify unparalleled dedication to the hospital, and Dorothy White undeniably embodies this spirit.

White commenced her tenure at the hospital in March 1976 as an administrative secretary, while simultaneously fulfilling her roles as a devoted wife to Jerry White and a nurturing mother to her two children, Jay and Jennifer, aged 7 and 4 at the time. Throughout her tenure, White assumed a multitude of responsibilities, including bookkeeping, payroll management, and human resources duties, among others. Her commitment to precision was evident as she meticulously balanced accounts late into the night at her kitchen table.

As the hospital evolved, so did White's role, working alongside eight administrators over the years. Additionally, she played an integral part in the Foundation, serving as its secretary since its inception in 1979. Her involvement extended to the annual Gala, where she collaborated closely with Liz Duryea, contributing to various aspects of event planning, from ticket sales and auction coordination to sponsor engagement and fundraising.

Beyond her administrative duties, White served in roles such as assistant to the director of the North Baldwin Wellness Center and later as a Patient Liaison and Director of the Auxiliary before her retirement in 2018.

At the gala, Foundation President Michael Andreoli praised White's steadfast dedication, emphasizing her readiness to exceed expectations in ensuring the Gala's success. He noted that presenting her with the award was a fitting acknowledgment of her relentless endeavors and the deep bond she formed with Liz throughout their years of collaboration.

Following her retirement from North Baldwin Infirmary, White embarked on a new career as the Senior Service Director for the Bay Minette Area Senior Center, continuing her legacy of service to the community.

The Liz Duryea Service Award serves as a testament to Dorothy White's remarkable dedication and invaluable contributions to the North Baldwin community and healthcare sector.
