FOLEY—Senior Kolton Nero led the Foley Lions to a 37-24 defeat against the Baldwin County Tigers, scoring four out of five touchdowns.

Lions take charge

Starting the season off 2-0, the Foley football team made their mark on their home field at the Ivan Jones Stadium.

“Glad for a win, lot to be left to desire.” said Foley head coach Deric Scott.

Despite some key plays by Baldwin County, such as Ty Mims rushing 94 yards, the Lion defense was quick to stand their ground.

Nero, who painted 24 points on the board for his team, escaped the grasp of Baldwin County defense.

“Outstanding player,” said Scott. “Really does a lot for us and really works hard for us. Great kid and glad to see his succession.”

Baldwin County fights back

Although the game ended with the Tigers losing by 13 points, Baldwin County head football coach Scott Rials said his team played till the end.

“We tried, we hung in there,” said Rials. “I give our guys a lot of credit. We battled and played hard, kept fighting all the way to the end.”

Ty Mims and Jamarion Marshall helped contribute to the teams score with four touchdowns, evenly distributed between Mims and Marshall, as they each scored two touchdowns.

Up next

Hoping to make their record 3-0, Foley travels to Mary G. Montgomery in Mobile for a region game on Sep. 9. Baldwin County’s next contest will be at their home field in Bay Minette against the Spanish Fort Toros Sep. 9.

“I know everybody’s like, 'man, they’re down 13 points,'" said Rials. “It’s not over until that clock hits zero.”
