Daphne Target, Kenny King Charities team up to fulfill Christmas wishes again

Daphne children had an opportunity for a free shopping spree at Target last Friday, Dec. 23, thanks to Kenny King Charities' 9th annual Christmas Shop-A-Thon.

The KKC Community Board and sponsors selected 25 elementary/middle school children in the Daphne community to participate. They were paired with their favorite Trojans football player and their own personal Target shopper to make their Christmas dreams a reality.

“I understand what it feels like to not be able to afford and receive Christmas gifts as a kid. The KKC Christmas Shop-A-Thon is entering its ninth year and I am extremely proud that we are able to annually give kids in our community another unforgettable Christmas experience," said Kenny King, charity founder and head football coach at Daphne High School. "We wouldn’t be able to pay it forward and provide this opportunity without our very generous sponsors and local principals: What’s Cluckin Restaurant, Valor Steel Buildings, Mr. & Mrs. Matthew Wells, Kenny King Charities, and Target, Inc.

"I would also like to extend special thanks to the entire Daphne Target staff, our Daphne Trojans football players, Ruff Wilson Center Director Tracie Brown, and all of our Daphne feeder pattern principals (Mrs. Benita Battle, Mrs. Dana Bottoms, Mr. Mark Doherty, and Mr. Kerry Edwards) and staff," King continued. "Together, we were able to be a blessing to these kids, put smiles on their faces, and bring them a Christmas they will remember. And we are looking forward to doing it again in 2023.”
