International Mud Day returns to Graham Creek with free family fun

Posted

Graham Creek Nature Preserve is gearing up to host one of the messiest and most playful events of the summer: International Mud Day.

Set for Saturday, June 28, the free event invites kids and adults to get dirty from 10 a.m. to noon at 23460 Wolf Bay Drive in Foley.

The celebration centers around a massive mud pit where families can jump, splash and slide their way through two hours of unstructured, nature-based fun. From mud pies to full-body dives, participants are encouraged to embrace the mess in a safe, supervised outdoor space.

Organizers recommend bringing clothes that can get ruined, a towel or two, a change of clothes and sturdy water shoes or old sneakers. The event is open to all ages and designed to encourage creative play, movement and a deeper connection with the outdoors.

International Mud Day is observed globally each year in late June, promoting outdoor play and environmental awareness for children. Graham Creek's event has become a local favorite, offering families a unique excuse to leave cleanliness behind and enjoy nature — one muddy step at a time.
