With the addition of Jennifer Guthrie, the new Gulf Shores City Council was made official after a swearing in ceremony Monday evening. Others sworn in included returning councilmen Joe Garris, Philip Harris, Jason Dyken and Steve Jones, as well as Mayor Robert Craft. Their first job after beginning their terms was to appoint city officials, from clerk to fire chief. All previously serving in their positions retained them, while those serving interim positions, such as now-Chief of Police Dan Netemeyer, were officially sworn in.
