Gulf Shores shares facility closures, changes to hours of operation for Independence Day

Posted

Gulf Shores has announced facility closures and changes to regular hours of operations ahead of Independence Day.

While emergency services remain open, city administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, with regular operations set to resume on Friday, July 5. The Thomas B. Norton Public Library and Gulf Shores Museum will also both be closed on Thursday.

The Bodenhamer Recreation Center opens from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m; however, no fitness classes will take place. The George C. Meyer Tennis Center is not scheduled to open, but courts will still be available for public use. Pickleball courts at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex remain open for public use as well.

Garbage and recycling services run as scheduled, although yard debris/bulk pickup scheduled for Thursday will now move to Wednesday, July 3, according to the city.

“As you celebrate Independence Day, please remember: the sale or use of fireworks within the corporate limits or police jurisdiction of the city is strictly prohibited; cooking with propane and or charcoal on decks under or within 10 feet of multifamily dwellings or combustible structures is prohibited; and open fires on the beach or in public areas are prohibited,” Gulf Shores wrote on Facebook. “We wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.”
