Jeanette Bornholt, Genealogist and Local History Librarian, announced that the Foley Public Library has been certified as the newest FamilySearch affiliate library.  The new designation means library patrons will have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch, the world's largest repository of genealogical records.  Family Search manages the famous Family History Library sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land, and court records of genealogical significance from over 130 countries.  Foley Public Library was chosen to be one of the select few public librairies through which access to FamilySearch's microfilms is granted.  It is a priceless resource for local and visiting residents interested in discovering their family tree.  There is a nominal fee of $5.50 to order a microfilm and one must view it with the use of one of the library's microfilm reader/printers.  Patrons can also search the Family History Library Catalog online at FamilySearch.org to see what records are available to order.  This is just one of the many ways the Foley Public Library, one of Baldwin County's fastest growing and busiest libraries, continues to serve South Baldwin County with the most up to date information and entertainment resources available.
