Foley gears up for "Battle of the Badges" blood drive

Posted

Foley residents, alongside local first responders and community supporters, are set to rally behind their city's public safety teams in an upcoming "Battle of the Badges" blood drive organized by LifeSouth Community Blood Centers.

Scheduled for Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the competition will pit supporters of the Foley Police Department against those of the Foley Fire Department, all in good-natured rivalry for a good cause. The drive will take place at the Foley Police Department on June 28 and shift to the Foley Fire Department on June 29.

Participants can donate whole blood, platelets, plasma or double red cells. In appreciation of their contribution, every donor will receive a complimentary cholesterol screening along with a $20 e-gift card.

Upon arrival for their scheduled donation, participants will choose to contribute on behalf of either the fire or police department. LifeSouth will then compile the donations for each department, with the winning department receiving a certificate of recognition. The event fosters a friendly rivalry between the two departments, each vying for the honor and bragging rights until the next year's competition. The "Battle of the Badges" not only aims to replenish vital blood supplies but also serves as a unifying community event to honor and support local public safety personnel.

For more information or to schedule a donation appointment, please call LifeSouth at 1-888-795-2707.
