The EPA has been used as a tool of overreaching federal government.
Given the $535 million wasted taxpayer’s dollars, the breaking “story” about the Solyndra Co. is more aptly a scandal.
Regarding the politically connected Solyndra Co., citizens should not hold their breath waiting for all the facts to come out any time soon.
That said, there is another sad story of government over-regulation — and private encroachment — that is now making its way through the court system.
Again, the EPA is at the center of the advancing threat to private property rights and personal dominion.
Known as the Sackett case, the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case this fall.
That development is long overdue.
If the Supreme Court finds for the Sacketts, it will serve as a sort of shot across the bow of the pirate-like behavior of zealous EPA bureaucrats.
Here’s some background and brief recap of the situation:
Each year the EPA “issues up to 3,000 administrative compliance orders … (That) demands an end to alleged environmental violations.”
Typically, the people and businesses targeted by the EPA cave under the federal pressure.
But, Mike and Chantelle Sackett decided to fight in court for their due process rights.
“It’s like these people are ego-driven to make a point … of like we (EPA) have control of your property … you can’t do anything with it,” said Mike Sackett.
And, given the initial court opinions, the system seems to echo: ‘Or, do about it’!
This is yet another example of unfettered government’s direct assault on citizen property rights.
It is wrong.
Impinging on the rights of citizens, the executive branch regulatory scheme must end.
If President Obama refuses to publicly rein in the environmental plutocrats, citizens would be right to demand that current congressional incumbents respond forthwith by discontinuing the federal EPA.
Mike and Chantelle Sackett would certainly applaud as would millions of Americans who still believe in Life … Liberty … and the Pursuit of Happiness … read individual property rights.
