Feeding Alabama's Summer Meals Program kicks off for 2024

Posted

Feeding Alabama, formerly known as the Alabama Food Bank Association, has announced the kick-off of its annual Summer Meals Program.

The initiative aims to provide no-cost meals to children under 18 during the summer months, a critical time when hundreds of thousands of children in Alabama lose access to free and reduced-price school meals.

In collaboration with over 15 community organizations, including churches, YMCAs and Boys and Girls Clubs, Feeding Alabama ensures meals are available throughout the summer. The program, running from June 3 to Aug. 2, aims to bridge the nutrition gap faced by many children during the school break.

Feeding Alabama partners annually with No Kid Hungry by Share Our Strength, a national organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in the United States. This partnership enables children and their families to locate nearby meal sites by texting 'FOOD' or 'COMIDA' to 304-304.
