Fairhope senior Mickey Herrick penned his commitment to the Warner Royals during a Sunday signing ceremony at No Off Season training facility.

The Pirates’ all-county center announced his pledge to the university in Lake Wales, Florida on Feb. 15 and put pen to paper to seal the deal Sunday, March 12.

Herrick helped Fairhope climb to its highest ranking (No. 2) since 2014 where the Pirates scored more than 300 points for a third straight season. Fairhope finished 8-3 overall to mark a sixth consecutive winning season.

The 5’ 10”, 255-pound center/long snapper was also offered by Goode Elite Prep, Culver-Stockton College, Carolina Community Christian, Birmingham Prep, Tennessee Valley Prep and Tabor College.

“I would first like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to continue my career and with this opportunity to do nothing but glorify Him,” Herrick wrote in his commitment announcement. “I want to thank my momma for always believing in me through the ups and downs and being a huge role model to me on how to have great work ethic, love you momma.

“I would also like to thank my family and friends for always cheering me on and being there for me no matter the situation,” he wrote. “I would also like to thank all the coaches that have believed in me on and off the field. And last but not least I would like to thank not just the No Off Season family but Brannon and Gavin Willisson for doing so much for me, always pushing me, and showing me how to be a Godly man and live it out on and off the field.”

Warner competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Sun Conference and finished 1-9 last season. The Royals are head coached by Dialleo Burks, who played 13 years of professional football including two years in NFL Europe, one season in the original XFL and seven seasons of arena football.

Burks also coached for the Tennessee Titans (June-September 2018) and Chicago Bears (June 2020-Septmeber 2021) through the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
