The Fairhope Lions Club welcomed seven new members at their meeting on Sept. 4 at the Clovis Cafs in Fairhope.
Bill Clarke, of the club, said it's quite an accomplishment to successfully recruit seven new members in a time when it has become difficult for service clubs to retain members.
Pictured from left to right are: Lion Mel Cosgrove, Lion Faye Klumpp, Lion Tania Cooper, Lion Bobby Lord, Lion Jana Woodard and Lion District Governor Todd Denison. New members not pictured: Lion James Stosh and Lion Eva Owen.
Denison, conducted the induction and spoke about Lions Club International's Mission 1.5, a campaign to grow worldwide membership to 1.5 million by July 1, 2027, so Lions can continue to help more than 1 billion people per year.
The Fairhope Lions Club serves communities on the Eastern Shore by providing free eye exams and glasses to those in need, helping feed the hungry through their support of Prodisee Pantry and helping kids deal with cancer and diabetes through their support of Camp Rapahope and Camp Seale Harris.
