Ellen Majors Lacy

Ellen Majors Lacy, a native of Excel, Alabama, and a long-time resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Jun. 26, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Eloise Pierce; brother, Gerald Pierce; husband, John Inge Lacy; daughter, Gale Majors; and father of her children, W.C. Majors. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Boothe (Vince); six grandchildren: Chaz Jordan (Melissa), Heath Boothe (Kara), Racq Jordan, Hagan Anderson, Teal Creel (Ryan), and Bragg Jordan; thirteen great grandchildren, John Allen, Anna-Majors, Avery, Coleman, Caden, Cooper, Murphy, Campbell, Trotter, Jake, Sawyer, Collins, and Dutch; one great-great-grandchild: Beau; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Ellen graduated from Excel High School. Later, she moved to Fairhope and began her career as a librarian at Fairhope Elementary School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from The University of South Alabama. After receiving her degree, she spent the next 25 years teaching in the Fairhope, Alabama and Houston, Texas school systems. Ellen was an exceptional and gifted woman. She was passionate about many things such as painting, dancing, traveling, writing, cooking, her family, and most importantly, her faith. Ellen was a lifelong learner and full of wisdom. She was a member of the Eastern Shore Art Center and First Baptist Church of Fairhope. Those who knew Ellen described her as creative, beautiful, kind, eloquent, and a true Southern lady.

A celebration of life service was held Mon., Jul. 1, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Fairhope. The family received friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
