DAPHNE — Freshman left hander Hannah Campbell tossed the first perfect game of her high-school career Saturday with the help of the Lady Trojan defense and bats.

The Daphne Lady Trojans defeated Robertsdale 3-0 Saturday in the championship of the 6A Area 3 tournament hosted by DHS. The Lady Trojan win gave DHS the home-field advantage yesterday against Area 2 runner-up, Baldwin County, and sent the Lady Bears to Satsuma. Results of those matchups were not complete in time for this edition. RHS holds a 30-18 record after defeating Foley 6-1 in a semi-final win pitched by Jessie Weaver and aided by Christina Ousley's home run.

The Lions had eliminated Fairhope Friday night after DHS defeated the Lady Pirates earlier Friday. In game one of the championship round Saturday, Sigrest's four-hitter and Erin Vaughan's lead-off home run gave DHS a 1-0 victory. That set the stage for Campbell who also got a welcome lead-off home run from Vaughan, who also played flawlessly at short-stop for DHS. DHS also got offense from Sigrest who drove in Alysia Lawhon and Hannah Henry.

Campbell's win put her varsity record at 17-5 along with junior right hander Sarah Sigrest's 30 victories for a 47-14 team overall heading into yesterday's substate round.

Campbell's twin sister Lannah Campbell, also a lefty, completed a 19-6 mark for the junior varsity before joining the varsity the rest of the year.

On Saturday, Lady Bears head coach Steve Shartzer, whose team won the area in '06, put it plainly.

"The whole story is the same. You give a quality team like Daphne a lot of extra at bats and they will hurt you."
