In response to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' projections of significant growth in financial management (16%) and management analytics (10%) through 2032, Columbia Southern University (CSU) has launched new degree programs in business.
According to a news release, these offerings, including accounting and concentrations in data analytics, aim to prepare professionals for the evolving demands of the business world.
CSU's commitment to serving business professionals in Baldwin County and nationwide is highlighted by its recent addition of seven new degree programs and concentrations to its academic catalog. According to the release, CSU ranks in the top 2% in the nation for the highest number of bachelor's degrees conferred in business administration based on 2021 data.
The expanded program offerings include:
One of the noteworthy additions is the Doctor of Emergency Management, which stands out as one of the few online doctoral programs in emergency management. Led by subject matter expert Tamara Mouras, dean of CSU's College of Safety and Emergency Services and a U.S. Navy veteran, the program aims to advance the field of emergency management.
Misti Kill, CSU's senior vice provost for academic affairs and a member of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Advisory Council, played a key role in spearheading the development of the Doctor of Emergency Management.
“We are excited to launch the Doctor of Emergency Management,” Kill said. “This degree is meant for scholar-practitioners who seek to advance the field of emergency management. Graduates of this doctoral program will enhance research and knowledge while bringing further innovation to the field.”
In addition to addressing the growing demand for emergency management professionals, the new degree offerings provide increased options for those seeking a Bachelor of Science entirely online. In 2023, CSU added a record-breaking 36 programs to its academic catalog, demonstrating its commitment to providing diverse educational opportunities.
