100 jobs to be created; company plants 200-gallon live oak

LOXLEY — Butting USA, a global stainless steel pipe manufacturer, has begun construction on its first United States facility in Baldwin County, marking a $61 million investment and an expected 100 new jobs.

Company officials, along with state and local leaders, held a ceremony Nov. 13 on the 58-acre site in the Loxley Industrial Corridor. Instead of a traditional groundbreaking, participants planted a 200-gallon live oak tree — a gesture company leaders said was meant to symbolize a long-term commitment to the region.

Marcel Bartels, CEO of Division Plant Construction for Butting Group, said the ceremony was intended to highlight the company's long-term outlook.

"This ceremony represents more than a groundbreaking; it is a symbol of our intention to grow strong, lasting roots in the United States," he said. "As a family-owned company with nearly 250 years of history, we are proud to carry our tradition of excellence and innovation to Alabama."

The project will be built in phases. The first phase includes establishing administrative offices, engineering operations and fabrication of stainless steel spools, components and cryogenic pipe systems. A second phase is

expected to add two welded stainless steel pipe mills and expanded fabrication capacity to serve customers across North America.

Local officials said Butting's arrival signals confidence in the region's workforce and infrastructure.

"Our decision to set down roots in Baldwin County speaks for our confidence in the people, infrastructure, and future of this region," said Adrian Rochofski, CEO and managing director of Butting USA. "By planting this Live Oak we symbolize our commitment to growing and thriving here for generations to come."

Loxley Mayor Richard Teal said the project represents more than industrial expansion.

"This moment goes beyond construction; it plants a promise," Teal said. "Butting's choice to root itself in our city reflects shared goals of growth, sustainability and opportunity for citizens. We are honored to welcome them."

Baldwin County Commission, Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance and Alabama Department of Commerce representatives also attended the event.

An exact timeline for construction completion and the facility to open has not been publicly given.
